Laily

English Lecture

Hi… My name is Laily. I was born in Mataram, NTB, and now live in Batam, Riau Islands. I studied English Education at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang, and earned my M.Pd in the same major from Universitas Mataram. I have been teaching English for more than 5 years. I was an English tutor for General English and TOEFL Preparation for almost 2 years. Currently, I work as English education lecturer at a private university in Batam.

My approach to teach English is based on what I have learned inside and outside the classroom with students as well my own experiences learning the language. I like to make my lessons fun and interactive to motivate learners actively use English. English especially becomes a lot more fun when you take part in activities like story telling and writing what you have experienced. My tip for learning English success is “The best way to be a fluent speaker of English is to speak it confidently.”

  • Where do you live?
  • What is your address?

  • Is there any grocery store near here?
  • I am trying to find the nearest hospital. Could you tell me how to get there?
  • Can you tell me the way to the gas station?

Jawaban dari pertanyaan-pertanyaan tentang tempat atau arah jalan (giving direction) sesuai dengan denah, misalnya

  • The grocery store is across the Indonesian restaurant
  • Go straight until you pass a bank on your left.
  • Just turn the right and you’ll find the gas station. It’s near the convenient store.

Beberapa kosakata preposition of direction adalah sebagai berikut:

Mike: It’s this way. Go straight ahead at the traffic lights. Turn right. Go along the street. Walk past the park, and keep going straight until you see the sign for the museum.

Jenny: Great! Thanks for your help.

Mike: You’re welcome.

Dialogue 2

Emma: Excuse me, I’m afraid I can’t find a petrol station. Do you know where one is?

Billy: There’s one near here.

Emma: How do I get there?

Billy: At the bus stop, take the first right and go straight on. It’s opposite the shopping mall.

Emma: Thank you so much!
